Internship Information
BLF Press is an independent publishing house focused on amplifying underrepresented voices in literature. We are seeking an intern to assist the publisher and editor-in-chief. The internship is unpaid and candidates must commit to 10-15 hours per week of work for a term of 12-16 weeks. Summer internships of 2.5 months are also available. Candidates will work remotely (via Zoom or Google Meet), and will need stable internet access and the use of a desktop or laptop.
Responsibilities:
As an intern you will help with promoting our press, books, and authors through print, electronic, and online media as well as special events. Duties include:
-Developing targeted media lists, press materials, and themed pitches using various databases
-Responding to media inquiries by sending review copies and press mailings
-Posting & monitoring social media efforts including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
-Updating marketing/publicity calendar on the website
-Assisting during publicity events, readings, and book launches
Requirements:
Candidates should register for an academic credit/non-credit internship with their college or university (fall, spring, summer), and I will sign all necessary documentation at the end of the term.
We are looking for an undergraduate student who is majoring in Publishing, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or English. Other relevant disciplines may be considered. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in creating content for Web and social media. The candidate should highly motivated and eager to be a part of a dynamic team. A positive attitude and high level of professionalism are imperative. We are especially interested in hiring LGBTQ BIPOC.
